Craftsmanship Backed by Culinary Training

Behind every slice of DJ’s Cheesecakes is the passion and skill of Daryl “DJ” Myers, a graduate of the Providence Culinary Training (PCT) program in Winston-Salem. The Providence Culinary Training program gave DJ the professional foundation to turn his love of baking into a thriving local business. His culinary training is in every flavor, texture, and presentation, making each cheesecake not just a dessert but a craft.

The training students receive through PCT ranges from kitchen safety and protocol to knife skills. Over the 13-week curriculum, students learn how to prepare dressings and sauces, roasts and briskets, and soups from recipes that serve hundreds. But the day they learned about cheesecake, DJ knew he was hooked.

DJ truly enjoys making cheesecake and wanted to spend his time perfecting his art. After an incredible response to posting a cheesecake photo on social media, DJ knew there was a market to sell his cheesecakes. He made his first attempt at selling the dessert during Thanksgiving and was more successful than he ever expected!

DJ’s Cheesecakes is now an established business. The positive response motivates DJ to continue to grow his business. He sells cheesecake by the slice and whole throughout the Piedmont Triad to restaurants and businesses.

“My time and training at PCT is the root of everything I’m working to accomplish with unlimited possibilities,” said DJ.
